Feedback prezi

Today, we showed our music video to our Media class,  this is the second time we have shown it to them. The first time they viewed it we was only half way through our editing. However, now we have come to the final stage of our editing. We also, showed our class our digipaks and posters in addition to our video. Generally the feedback was very positive but according to the feedback we received there are still some minor things we need to adjust. Where am I at the the moment?

In this coursework section of the course, I have currently completed my digipak design for the girl band as well as beginning the creation of the advertisement for the band for promoting the new digipak into the music recording industry for the band.


'The Saturdays' example: 

I decided to look at the girl band, 'The Saturdays' promotional poster as an example as I felt that they generally linked to our girl groups target audience. I realised that the main elements used in it was: the group main image, album release date, website and band logo with that name of the album (in my case the digipak).

'Rihanna' example:

When looking at the Rihanna album promotional poster I felt that it would be good looking at hers, as her album is about being unique to other artists. I found when looking at her promotional poster, it included: the main poster again, the artist herself's logo, the album name and the music recording logo.

Period 3 and 4: Green screen scene

This scene is planned to be filmed on Thursday for the final filming of the crime board scene with each member of the group holding police department crime boards to show the final conclusion to the music video. This conclusion shows how the women has been caught after the kidnap of the boy... I decided that I wanted to take images of the girls holding the boards as well as filming it so that when it came to editing we could make it edgy and the shots able to change quickly to the beat.

Filming Journal: 9th December 2011

Tonight, we decided to film the car park scene which involved all four band members, as it would be used as the chorus of the song. In this scene we wanted to see the way in which the band changed in each chorus as they would go in order of:
1.introduction to group
2. group looking confident - causing crime
3. looking scared - running away
4. caught with crime boards.

We then decided in the car park to also film my rapping scene again as the lighting was too dark in the other locations in which we had taken already. We filmed each piece more than once with different angles and close ups so that there was a variety when it came to editing.

My Final plan of video.

In today's lesson we sat down as a group and discussed what else needed to be filmed or even re-filmed after fridays recording. We signed up to 'Google' calendar so that we were able to plan when we were next filming and would we would have to cover in our lessons so that we had a certain time period for filming, digipack and editing.

This morning we uploaded all our video footage in which we recorded in the car park on Friday night; we also edited images in which we took, both in the music and backstage. We have started to edit the footage in which we have for the first verse on Final Cut Pro and are now preparing for the next filming day which we have planned to be Friday 18th November for the scene in the car.

Were we pleased with this footage?
I felt that this footage came out very well as we had filmed a variety of different shots in the same scene so that we know that when we start editing there will be a lot of footage to play with.

What was good/not so good and how will you ensure your next shoot is as successful?
I felt that the lighting in the car park was very good and picked up very well on the camera, which lead us to deciding to film the whole bands scene in the car park as the street scenes were too dark.

In today's lesson, due to our pitch feedback from yesterday, we as a group felt that the storyline in which we had been planning with wouldn't work as well, due to the audience finding it very difficult and confusing to show what's going on. This is when we felt that the idea of the storyline had to change, remembering that it had to link in with the lyrics and title of the song in which it was for. As a group, we decided that the storyline of a 'Chase' scene would be changed to a storyline of a 'hunting' storyline; the idea of these girls in the band hunting for a guy to have, keeping the previous location ideas and the ideology of waiting girls to look more powerful to men in the band.

In today's lesson, our group decided to feed back to each other what we had each done in the half term for the project, two of our members also started to write enquiries to car parks to ask permission.

As a group we are starting to think about how this production is going to be filmed, including the costume, props, location etc.

During this week we completed all of our 100 shots for our storyboard for the music video, we also wrote out all the plans for the music video, including: location, costume and roles. We also created a questionnaire with questions that included our different thoughts about the video in which we wanted to have feedback for.

The two different questionnaires in which we gave out to both male and female audiences to see what different codes and conventions could be used within our video so that it would attract our target audience. From our feedback from our audience research we realised that the male audience mainly liked the typical 'indie' style within girls and the female celebrities in which they found attractive were mainly Pixie Lott or Rihanna, showing that to attract a male audience, the band would have to have this image. However, when looking at the female audience...

Our group decided to have a talk about new ideas and ways we could make our music video ideas better after sharing our ideas with the class. We liked the idea of a chase scene within the music video where the video represents the idea of the guys having control over the girls and trying to find them, however, on the last verse of the video, the audience are shown that there is a twist and the women are actually chasing them. We don't want this to be confusing though so we are going to make that story as basic as possible.

Different scenes:
- Street (chase)
- Car (singing and driving)
- Plain backdrop (costume change)

We want to be able to film as much footage as possible within different locations that match the songs lyrics and the groups ideology so that the video doesn't get boring. We also want to include many different shots within the music video that link to the song and Goodwin's Theory; including ideas of:

- Slow motion of a rose petal dropping into a puddle at the beginning to represent the group name 'Studded Roses', maybe the hand it falls from is wearing a thick studdied one.

- One of the band members creating a notion of looking, by going to step on the camera in the heels, and then the camera goes fuzzy, then the song begins with the upbeat music.

In this weeks lessons we have focused on the development and ideas of our music video. We created our moodboard for our chosen genre, we started also looking at rock pop types of music videos instead of funky pop as that was the 'edge' of our music video. We have decided to go for a more rough, edgy and dark pop type of video; artists in which related to this type of video was Rihanna due to her ideology.

During this week we started talking about ideas for your music video. We decided to talk about all our different thoughts and feelings in the group to see what ones we were more for as an overall idea. One idea of a story line to the song in which came up in conversation was the idea of a group of girls showing their ex-boyfriends that they are better than them.
