Making the crime boards

In todays lesson Me and Amy started making the crime boards for filming on thursday with the green screen, we started by using Photoshop to make the design that would be on the board. Then we stuck the print outs to a card/foam board so that the crime boards were thicker and would look more realistic in the music video.

Last day of filming...

Thursday 15th December...

Period 3 and 4: Green screen scene

This scene is planned to be filmed on Thursday for the final filming of the crime board scene with each member of the group holding police department crime boards to show the final conclusion to the music video. This conclusion shows how the women has been caught after the kidnap of the boy... I decided that I wanted to take images of the girls holding the boards as well as filming it so that when it came to editing we could make it edgy and the shots able to change quickly to the beat.

Photo shoot Photographs for digipak

We decided to also do the photo shoot of the group on Friday 9th December. The location in which we took the photos in was the gallery as the walls were plan white for the background so that it would be easy to edit, and then the lighting was much better than the other locations in which we thought of.

These were some of the images taken of the group together:

Filming Journal: 9th December 2011

Tonight, we decided to film the car park scene which involved all four band members, as it would be used as the chorus of the song. In this scene we wanted to see the way in which the band changed in each chorus as they would go in order of:
1.introduction to group
2. group looking confident - causing crime
3. looking scared - running away
4. caught with crime boards.

We then decided in the car park to also film my rapping scene again as the lighting was too dark in the other locations in which we had taken already. We filmed each piece more than once with different angles and close ups so that there was a variety when it came to editing.

Group Plans

When working as a group of four, we decided that we would split up into pairs to edit, however film all the same footage together. Then after creating these two edits, we would then have a choice of two to then submit as a final music video.

Crime boards.

We decided that the crime boards would be a good way of showing to the audience that the band has been caught in the music video storyline. This lead to the idea of having the summary of the crime boards as the end scene, on our crime boards we liked the idea of writing some of our text on the boards with lipstick, alongside the codes of conventions for a girl band. We thought that we would create these boards by making them on photoshop and then sticking them to a thicker surface.

My Final plan of video.

1. Rose falls on floor and band name.
2. ALL band walking around car park - look confident.
3. Amy's scene with Joe - in car park.
4. Car park - amy winks (audience see that we have done something wrong).
5. Helen and megan running around street.
6. Helen (running away hiding in street).
7. Laura in car.
8. Car park - ALL running looking more scared of getting caught.
9. Megan on wall - slow.
10. Flick with boards.
11. On green screen, ALL with boards.
12. One band member walks on camera.

Production Journal

In today's lesson, me and Megan decided to go through the scenes and footage in which we already had so that we was able to edit the footage we did have and organise a date to film the footage we didn't have so far.

These are the scenes/footage in which we had so far:
Verse 1: Amy's Scene

Beginning Shot: Rose Scene

Chorus 3: Boys Scene

Wall scene: Megan's

Digipack Ideas

These are two of my designs in which I have thought of when creating a cover and an inner cover for the digipack of this girl band. For the front cover, I felt that the whole band needed to be shown on the front cover as this 'new band' needed to be shown so that the target audience would be able to see and understand what the groups ideology is. The logo needs to also be included with the typography and rose images; remembering to include the title of the album and the song tracks on the back.

On the inner cover I also liked the idea of having a close up of each of the band members faces (wearing edgy make up), along with the idea of separating each image with crime scene tape, being a connotation of being scandalous.

Calendar of planning

Thursday 1 December 2011

filming: Variety of scenes

Friday 25th November: In this filming we all filmed around Megan's house the backdrop scene with the band members on their own and with their partners. The scenes in which we shot were:
- Backdrop: All
- Pair scenes: Laura and Adam
- Pair scenes: Megan and Ermal
- Pair scenes: Jack and Helen
- Boys scene

Filming: Car Scene

Filming on Tuesday 11th November at location: Laura's House and Street = Laura, Amy and Beatrice (Megan ill so unable to attend).
In this filming we planned the filming of My scene in the car where the rapping scene of the music video is filmed within the car. We wanted to get a variety of shots around the car while the band member is in the car to see from different angles. We had a slight problem with lighting as it was so dark, however we tried to add lamps and lights around the car so that the light was bright enough to see the singer.

In today's lesson we sat down as a group and discussed what else needed to be filmed or even re-filmed after fridays recording. We signed up to 'Google' calendar so that we were able to plan when we were next filming and would we would have to cover in our lessons so that we had a certain time period for filming, digipack and editing.

Images from the first filming: Car Park

These are some of the images in which we took when filming Amy and Joe's scene in the car park for the first verse of the song. When filming in the car park the lighting we found was bright enough to capture the video on the camera and we felt that the check list in which I created for everyone helped as it made us more organised.

One of our Intertextual References.

After researching different make up brands and products in which we could link in our music video, to be an intertextual reference to our target audience. We found this mascara called 'Scandal' by Rimmel in which linked to our ideology very well due to the way it was represented.

Production Journal

This morning we uploaded all our video footage in which we recorded in the car park on Friday night; we also edited images in which we took, both in the music and backstage. We have started to edit the footage in which we have for the first verse on Final Cut Pro and are now preparing for the next filming day which we have planned to be Friday 18th November for the scene in the car.

Were we pleased with this footage?
I felt that this footage came out very well as we had filmed a variety of different shots in the same scene so that we know that when we start editing there will be a lot of footage to play with.

What was good/not so good and how will you ensure your next shoot is as successful?
I felt that the lighting in the car park was very good and picked up very well on the camera, which lead us to deciding to film the whole bands scene in the car park as the street scenes were too dark.

Feedback after pitch.

These are the feedback sheets in which we got back after our pitch, these helped us to understand what needed to be changed in the music video plan; due to this we have changed some of our ideas and development from them.
