Production Journal

In today's lesson we sat down as a group and discussed what else needed to be filmed or even re-filmed after fridays recording. We signed up to 'Google' calendar so that we were able to plan when we were next filming and would we would have to cover in our lessons so that we had a certain time period for filming, digipack and editing.

Images from the first filming: Car Park

These are some of the images in which we took when filming Amy and Joe's scene in the car park for the first verse of the song. When filming in the car park the lighting we found was bright enough to capture the video on the camera and we felt that the check list in which I created for everyone helped as it made us more organised.

One of our Intertextual References.

After researching different make up brands and products in which we could link in our music video, to be an intertextual reference to our target audience. We found this mascara called 'Scandal' by Rimmel in which linked to our ideology very well due to the way it was represented.

Production Journal

This morning we uploaded all our video footage in which we recorded in the car park on Friday night; we also edited images in which we took, both in the music and backstage. We have started to edit the footage in which we have for the first verse on Final Cut Pro and are now preparing for the next filming day which we have planned to be Friday 18th November for the scene in the car.

Were we pleased with this footage?
I felt that this footage came out very well as we had filmed a variety of different shots in the same scene so that we know that when we start editing there will be a lot of footage to play with.

What was good/not so good and how will you ensure your next shoot is as successful?
I felt that the lighting in the car park was very good and picked up very well on the camera, which lead us to deciding to film the whole bands scene in the car park as the street scenes were too dark.

Feedback after pitch.

These are the feedback sheets in which we got back after our pitch, these helped us to understand what needed to be changed in the music video plan; due to this we have changed some of our ideas and development from them.

Intertextual References

These are some of the media clips in which we found as part of our research to look at ways we could use mascara as an intertextual reference in the music video:

L'Oreal

Maybelline

Designing the Logo for the band.

During the pitch in which we presented to class, many felt that the logo didn't represent the groups ideology very well, so due to this we decided to change the design and typography.

Firstly, Amy collected a selection of fonts in which she found on 'Dafont' and as a group we chose the one in which we felt would work the best:

FIRST ATTEMPT:

We used this as our starting plan as we felt that it was a simple design to start with.

SECOND ATTEMPT:

We liked this design as colour had been added, however we felt that it needed to be a little more complex.

THIRD ATTEMPT:

We then felt that a more 'edgy' typography needed to be added to represent our ideology

FOURTH ATTEMPT:

When this logo had been completed, all the group really liked the texture of the background and the font, however, we felt that the barbed wire may confuse the target audience.

FINAL LOGO:

This was our favourite logo as it looked the boldest out of all the previous designs and eye catching, which we felt would attract the target audience. We also liked this typography as it included the studs and roses that was the name of the band name, 'Studded Roses'.

Production Journal

In today's lesson, due to our pitch feedback from yesterday, we as a group felt that the storyline in which we had been planning with wouldn't work as well, due to the audience finding it very difficult and confusing to show what's going on. This is when we felt that the idea of the storyline had to change, remembering that it had to link in with the lyrics and title of the song in which it was for. As a group, we decided that the storyline of a 'Chase' scene would be changed to a storyline of a 'hunting' storyline; the idea of these girls in the band hunting for a guy to have, keeping the previous location ideas and the ideology of waiting girls to look more powerful to men in the band.

The Pitch

Animatic

This is the animatic with the song of our music video, these images are from the storyboard before we had your pitch to the class. Since we had this decision to the class, we have kept most of this storyboard the same, however we have changed parts due to the change from a 'chase' scene to a 'hunt' scene instead.
